ICISF Upcoming Event – Resilience Training: Psychological Survival Skills for Before, During & After Crises

Date:Tuesday February 2, 2021

March 25 – 26, 2021

8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST (both days)

Presented by: Glenn Schiraldi, PhD

Course Description:

Conditions of extreme stress require extraordinary counter-measures. Resilience training helps us be at our best at all times, especially tough times. Specifically, resilience training helps us prevent and recover from stress-related conditions (including PTSD, suicide, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, problem anger, sleep and relationship problems)—while optimizing mental well-being and performance under pressure. Each of us has a great need to learn the skills of resilience, and then teach these skills to others.

Practical evidence-based and theory-driven resilience principles and skills will be explored. Coping skills taught in traditional clinical, elite training, and positive psychology settings will be explained—including cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence.

This course is designed particularly for emergency responders with a personal interest (such as military, police, firefighters, disaster workers) and those who support them, including mental health professionals, pastoral counselors/chaplains, leaders, trainers, peer counselors, and family members. The skills help us all, regardless of age or circumstance, cope with strains from everyday stressors to trauma

Course outcomes can include a greater sense of subjective well-being, improved occupational and social functioning, greater job retention, and the ability to help others become highly resilient.
